Mooli Ki Bhunji - मूली की भूंजी (Fried Asian GiantWhite Raddish)

Hello Friends,

I am sharing something very simple, really simple even a new cook can make it and it will taste yummy. It is called "Mooli Ki Bhunji" which means fried mooli (Giant Asian white raddish). I am not sure if any of you have tried this variety, but this is a Rajasthani dish that is eaten a lot in winter months when fresh mooli is found in the market. If you do not mention someone who is eating this dish, which veg it is made of, they will never be able o guess it :)

Mooli Ki Bhunji - मूली की भूंजी (Fried Asian GiantWhite Raddish)

Ingredients
Mooli (White Raddish) - 1.5 cups
Onion - 1 cup (finely chopped)
Garlic - 2 cloves minced
Haldi (Turmeric Powder) - 1/2 tsp
Lal Mirch (Red Chilli) Powder - 1/2 tsp
Dhaniya (Coriander) Powder - 1/2 tsp
Jeera (Cumin Seeds) - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Preparation
Cut mooli into small pieces, add to boiling water and boil till it is well cooked (mashable).
Mash mooli and try to squeeze as much water out of it as possible.
Take a pan, add oil. Let it heat and add jeera.
Once jeera start spluttering, add onion and garlic and let it fry till it becomes translucent.
Add salt, lal mirch, dhaniya, haldi and fry for about 2 minutes.
Add mashed mooli and fry till oil separates (about 3-4 minutes).
Serving
Serve it hot with roti/paratha.

Isn't it simple. And, again it can be really made at a short notice. This bhunji can also be used as a filling for making mooli paratha :)

So, enjoy this till my next post. Take care. Good night !!!

Thank you everyone for your wishes. Glad to know that almost all of you like mooli, as many people do not like it for it's smell and taste and this is a perfect dish as no one can even tell later if it is mooli or not. One more thing that I forgot to mention in my blog is that, this can also be used as a filling for mooli paratha :)
