The Combo Event Entry - Aloo Methi Ki Sabzi and Paratha

Hi Friends,

So, I was visiting this blog today and came to know of a contest called The Combo Event (the picture is below). I got inspired and wanted to be part of the event and so decided to make something for the event which also happened to be our dinner tonight.

So, here it is. A very simple and yet delicious dinner combo.

Aloo Methi ki Sabzi and Paratha (आलू मेथी की सब्जी और पराठा)

Ingredients
For Aloo Methi Ki Sabzi
Aloo (Potatoes) Diced - 1 1/2 cup
Methi (Fenugreek Leaves) - 1 1/2 cup
Onion Chopped finely - 1/2 cup
Ginger (grated or crushed) - 1/2 inch piece
Garlic Cloves (crushed) - 2
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Red Chill Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
Rai (Mustard Seeds) - 1/2 tsp
Jeera (Cumin Seeds) - 1/2 tsp
Salt - as per taste
Oil - 1 tsp
For Paratha
Aata (Wheat Flower) - 2 cups
Salt - as per taste
Warm water - to make the dough
Preparation
For Aloo Methi Ki Sabzi
  1. Add oil in a pan and once hot add rai and jeera
  2. Once they start spluttering add chopped onions and fry till they are light brown
  3. Add grated ginger and garlic and fry for 1 more min.
  4. Add all dry masalas and fry the mix for 1 more min.
  5. Add potatoes and methi leaves, mix well, cover and cook on low heat for about 5-7 min, mixing every min. or so.
  6. Fry un-convered for 1 more min. and the sabzi is done :)

For Paratha
  1. Add salt to the aata
  2. Slowly add warm water and keep mixing the dough, till you have nice soft dough (soft but not sticky)
  3. Cover it and keep it aside for 10-15 min.
  4. Now, make a ping pong sized ball out of the dough and by applying little dry aata to it, roll it into a circlular shape
  5. Put it on a hot griddle and flip and fry it on each side to make parathas by adding little ghee/butter to it.

Serving
Serve them hot together at dinner with some cold dahi in a bowl. Super yummy !!!

Even kids love it as even though you are giving green leaves, you are mixing it with potatoes and everyone loves potatoes.

Enjoy this super yummy dinner any night. It is very quick too.

OK, that's all for today. Have a wonderful night everyone.

Take care,
Priya
